Best known for reviving the tradition of classical liberalism, F. A. Hayek was also a prominent scholar of the philosopher John Stuart Mill. F. A. HAYEK (1899-1992), recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1991 and cowinner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 1974, was a pioneer in monetary theory and a leading proponent of classical liberalism in the twentieth century.

SANDRA J. PEART is Dean and Professor of leadership studies at the University of Richmond, where she also codirects the Summer Institute for the History of Economic Thought.
