Hardback. Etat : New. Edited by Peter Graeff and Guido Mehlkop, this scholarly volume examines the linkages between economic deprivation, armed conflict, and political institutions, drawing on contributions from across the social sciences. The collected essays engage with both democratic peace theory and capitalist peace theory, arguing that states which protect individual political and civil liberties tend to be less prone to interstate violence. Published as part of the Routledge Advances in International Relations and Global Politics series, the book offers theoretical and empirical perspectives relevant to scholars of international relations, political economy, and peace and conflict studies.
