Jim R. Woolard spent years researching the history of Ohio and Kentucky from 1790 to 1815. His fiction novels portraying every-day life on the frontier take the form of personal memoirs. His novels, Thunder in the Valley, was awarded in the Medicine Pipe for best first novel and Spur Award for best original paperback novel by the Western Writer's of America.
