Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book, published in 1521, is an authoritative guide to the complex legal landscape of the early 16th-century Holy Roman Empire, with a particular focus on the legal procedures of the Imperial Chamber Court, the highest court of the empire. The author provides a comprehensive overview of the legal principles and mandates governing the Imperial Chamber Court, including the important distinction between the court's civil and criminal jurisdictions. The author examines in-depth the proper procedure for bringing cases before the court, with special emphasis on the appropriate use of mandates, particularly the Mandate of Relaxation, an order compelling the release of persons or property that have been wrongfully seized. The examination further addresses the proper legal grounds for challenging the court's jurisdiction based on the qualifications of parties and the nature of the subject matter. The book elucidates the legal requirements for securing a Mandate of Relaxation, including the necessity of demonstrating both a legitimate interest in the matter and the provision of adequate security to cover any potential damages that may result from the mandate. The author also explores the legal consequences of failing to comply with a Mandate of Relaxation, including the potential for financial penalties and other sanctions. Ultimately, this book offers a valuable resource for understanding the legal intricacies of the Holy Roman Empire during the early modern period. It provides a detailed analysis of the Imperial Chamber Court's procedures and the legal principles governing its jurisdiction, making it an essential reference for scholars, legal practitioners, and anyone interested in the history of law and governance in the Holy Roman Empire.
