Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the potential benefits of partially drying coal before it is charged into commercial coke ovens. By analyzing the results of predrying five coal blends, the author investigates how this process can improve oven productivity, decrease coking time, and affect the physical properties of the resulting coke. The findings suggest that predrying coal at temperatures of up to 250°F can reduce coking time by 25 to 35 minutes for each percent of moisture removed, and increase oven productivity by a similar percentage, making this technique a promising method for optimizing coke production.
