Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book concerns a comprehensive review of the fossils discovered by Hector's expeditions within the Canadian territories. The author provides a summary of what is currently known about western Canada's Cretaceous system, with special focus on fossil flora and fauna. It also includes a provisional list of fossils collected by Sir James Hector from various sites. Of special interest are the previously undescribed species from the Vancouver Cretaceous, including an ammonite new to North American researchers. The author also includes a thorough examination of fossil collections from the same region, assembled in the years following the initial expeditions and deposited in the Provincial Museum at Victoria. Specifically, it includes descriptions of new decapod crustacean species. These descriptions, and the revised nomenclature of previously reported fossils from this area, contribute significantly to the understanding of the faunal and floral composition of the region during the Cretaceous period.
