Ha Jin left his native China in 1985 for the USA. He is the author of three books of poetry; three collections of stories, The Bridegroom, Under the Red Flag and Ocean of Words, a novella, In the Pond; and the international bestseller Waiting, winner of the US National Book Award. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
