Synopsis
The argument of this book is that the idea of the soul is man's greatest self-delusion. It presents a reductionist picture of the mind, and argues that the brain is nothing more than a complex organic machine. It shows the way modern science forces us to revise our attitudes towards religious and ethical dogma. Rodney Cotterill also wrote the "Cambridge Guide to the Material World" and is editor and co-author of "Computer Simulation in Brain Science".
