"Nemesis" discusses the theory that a killer star is orbiting the sun, releasing a barrage of comets every 26 million years, eg, being responsible for the dinosaur extinction event. Although the theory has since been discredited, it was taken sufficiently seriously in its time to be examined using a variety of sophisticated technologies and statistical methods. Despite this, the narrative of how a scientific hypothesis is generated and examined remains a fascinating read. Rare signed.
