Biographie de l'auteur
Anthony Powell was born in 1905. After working in publishing and as a scriptwriter, he began to write for the Daily Telegraph in the mid-1930s. He served in the army during World War II and subsequently became the fiction reviewer on the TLS. Next came five years as literary editor of Punch. He was appointed a Companion of Honour in 1988. In addition to the twelve-novel sequence, A Dance to the Music of Time, Anthony Powell was the author of seven other novels, and four volumes of memoirs, To Keep the Ball Rolling. He died in March 2000.

Boards have some rubbing at the edges and a little light surface marking. Lettering on spine very bright. The tops of the page edges are browned with quite a bit of spotting. A production flaw has led to the front and rear free endpapers being stuck to the pastedowns at the top inner corner leaving a small torn patch at the rear endpapers and small chips to the top inner corners of the front free endpaper and the blank page which follows it. The pages are slightly browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. Jacket has been price-clipped and repriced by the publisher and has some edge rubbing and slight fading to the spine which has a tiny tear at the top.
