Synopsis
The latest title in a new line of Littles books for beginning readers, this story was adapted from The Littles Take a Trip (Scholastic 1968).
Lucy Little has a best friend named Tina Small. The tiny girls send letters back and forth via Cousin Dinky and his glider. But Lucy has never actually met Tina, who lives in a house a whole block away--but now Lucy's fondest wish is coming true. She, Tom, and other members of the family are hiking to visit the Smalls. The trip will take all day, and all of the Littles are armed with weapons in case they meet any unfriendly animals on the dangerous journey.
As it turns out, they do. But thanks to Lucy's surprise weapon -- a jar of pepper -- the Littles survive to complete their hike. At last, Lucy meets her best friend, and what a story the Littles have to tell!
