From Booklist

Reviewed with Kim Deegan's My First Book of Opposites.

PreS. A bright, uncluttered design distinguishes these concept books in which a bald, dot-eyed, peach-colored toddler introduces basics. In Opposites, simple paper cut-outs, in appealingly bold, contrasting colors, show the boy climbing in and out of boxes, up and down stairs, reading quietly, and loudly banging his drum. Similarly designed, Numbers shows the boy playing with toys in decreasing numbers, counting down from 10--until he reaches "one big mess!" The words and numbers are printed in enormous black type that's just right for little ones learning to read and count, and the thick, sturdy paper will stand up to toddlers' rough grabs and wild page turning. Collections may already be stuffed with books about counting and opposites, but these volumes are more visually appealing and better suited to the very young than much of what's out there.
