Edward Jones (Author)
Edward Jones is a Director in the London based practice of Dixon Jones Ltd. With his partner Jeremy Dixon, he has been architect to numerous arts projects in London, most notably the Royal Opera House, the National Portrait Gallery and the east wing of the National Gallery. He has taught extensively in North America, Ireland and Britain, and the work of his practice has been widely published and exhibited. Mr Jones lives in London with his wife and three children.
Christopher Woodward (Author)
Christopher Woodward was Sir Banister Fletcher Lecturer in architecture at University College London. He writes architectural criticism and is the author of several guides to the buildings of European cities.

Ink notation on rep. The dust jacket has slight wear and soiling. Prof. Edward Jones, CBE RIBA (Edward David Brynmor Jones) is an English architect, born in St Albans 20 October 1939. Jones trained at the Architectural Association, where he met his future architectural partner Jeremy Dixon. They formed an informal practice in the mid sixties to promote the modernist agenda. He has been professor of architecture in Europe and North America. In 2000, The Observer listed two of his practice's London buildings in the Top 10 Buildings of the Year: the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Opera House. In December 2010 he received a CBE for services to architecture. In 2011, Jones was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. Woodward determined to become an architect from an early age, securing a rare local authority grant to study at the Architectural Association in London, in 1957 at the height of its influence on new building in Britain. There he made lasting friends, who included Jones, Jeremy Dixon and Tony Richardson. He was well known as the co-author with Edward Jones of the Guide to the Architecture of London, the first comprehensive guide when published in 1983, aimed at a general audience but written from an architect?s point of view. In 1980 he began teaching at the Bartlett School of Architecture (part of University College London), fully retiring in 2008. A Guide to the Architecture of London is a comprehensive guidebook that covers London's building history from Roman times to the modern era, featuring over 1,000 structures with maps, photos, and chronological entries. It serves as both a practical street guide and an armchair read, offering historical context for buildings like Wren's churches and St. Pancras station. From Roman foundations to 19th-century expansion, it covers all of London's architectural history. Entries are organized chronologically within geographical sections, with an introduction to London's overall architectural history. Includes over buildings, street-finder maps, and more than photographs and illustrations. It contains plans showing the development of London squares and time charts for major trends.
