This reference work has been designed to provide undergraduate and postgraduate students involved in child care with a logical approach to interpreting symptoms, rather than a formal review of disease entitities. Each section, chosen for its importance in clinical paediatrics, presents the important physiological principles underlying symptoms and discusses those areas which are often confused by students. A short summary box on management will be included, but the emphasis will be on the process of making a diagnosis.
The new edition will be much more attractively presented, with the use of a second colour in the text, more illustrations, and a more comprehensive and extensive collection of symptoms. Community aspects will be considered throughout.
