A major revision of the leading textbook of FNA cytology. This edition has double the number of illustrations and has expanded coverage of ancillary diagnostic techniques such as molecular diagnostics, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry. There is increased coverage of rare entities in the diagnosis of specific organs, tissues and tumors. All of the histologic images are now in full colour and the MGG stains are paired with Pap stains throughout to provide the cytopathologist and pathologist with a complete guide to cytopathologic analysis. Both text and illustrations provide a systematic and logical approach to the acquisition , interpretation and diagnosis of Fine Needle Aspirate biopsy specimens. FNA Cytology will assist in establishing diagnostic criteria and results in the examination of benign and malignant condition in all body systems where the technique is currently applied. The two different methods of staining and fixation are combined for each entity, (air dried MGG stains are paired with wet fixed Pap smears). For the first time this book provides a totally comprehensive and universally recognizable guide to the cytopathologic appearances of biopsy samples. Cytopathologic and histologic appearances of individual entities correlated throughout. Provides a complete visual diagnostic guide for interpretation of biopsy specimens by showing both their cellular and morphologic appearance. Over 1,300 full color images. Provides a comprehensive atlas of entities that the user can compare to the aspiration and tissue samples seen under the microscope. Diagnostic criteria listed for each entity. Provides the user with a ready check list to facilitate the investigative process Problems and diagnostic pitfalls identified for each entity. Provides the user with the necessary tools to make a confident and accurate list of differential diagnoses. Each chapter contains material on appropriate ancillary techniques. Provides the user with a complete range of diagnostic tools for use in daily practice. Double the number of color illustrations All histopathologic tissue samples will be in full color Pap stains will be paired with MGG stains Additional entities of rare and uncommon conditions Addition of sub-section in each chapter of relevant ancillary techniques Increased use of colored boxes and charts to highlight differential diagnoses and diagnostic criteria.

A major revision of the leading textbook of FNA cytology Both text and illustrations provide a systematic and logical approach to the acquisition, interpretation and diagnosis of Fine Needle Aspirate biopsy specimens. Orell's FNA Cytology will assist in establishing diagnostic criteria and results in the examination of benign and malignant condition in all body systems where the technique is currently applied. The information is always presented in a clinical context: it details the role of FNA and other ancillary techniques in the investigative sequence (the cytological findings are always set in the context of the patient's clinical history, physical exam and other laboratory tests). It gives practical, technical advice on how to obtain good smears and alerts the reader as to possible diagnostic pitfalls and complications. The contents are organized in a framework of anatomical regions (rather than histopathological classifications) in order to reflect the way problems present in clinical practice. Each chapter is divided into two parts: the first deals with indications, accuracy, techniques and complications; the second illustrates the cytological patterns and their implication. Both common and rare conditions are covered.
