Advances in Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Neurodegenerative Diseases Research covers how diffusion MRI has contributed to our understanding of a wide range of neurodegenerative diseases, unraveling early microstructural brain damage even at presymptomatic stages. Sections cover the technical basis of diffusion MRI, focusing on the interpretation of its imaging-derived metrics in terms of neuronal damage. Subsequent chapters are organized by disease, taking an in-depth look at how the use of diffusion MRI has contributed to our recent understanding of, and motivated potential new monitoring and therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, progressive supranuclear palsy, Huntington's disease, multiple system atrophy, motor neuron diseases, and more. The book concludes with implications for future research, making it a must-have reference for researchers and clinicians interested in the field of neuroimaging for neurodegenerative disorders.
