Dr. Debashis Mitra is a geologist with thirty years of experience in remote sensing and GIS applications for coastal engineering. Currently serving as the Group Director of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun, he has a strong background in coastal zone management, coastal hazards, and geomorphology. Dr. Mitra has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to ten chapters in international books. He has edited works on environmental remote sensing and the Sunderban Mangroves. With a robust academic background and a commitment to mentorship, he has supervised numerous students at various academic levels and actively contributes to the scholarly community through journal reviews and editorial board memberships.
Dr. Michał Habel, an associate professor at Kazimierz Wielki University, leads the Department of Waterways Revitalization in the Faculty of Geographical Sciences and plays a key role in the faculty's scientific council. With a diverse academic background, he has held various positions since 2005, including adjunct, assistant professor, Vice-Dean for Science, and served on Senate Committees for Science and Cooperation. Dr. Habel's expertise extends to international projects funded by the European Commission's 7th Framework Program and Horizon 2020, as well as projects supported by NCBiR's POWER program. He actively engages in the assessment of applications and projects for the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) and evaluates initiatives such as "Polish Returns" projects for NAWA. Dr. Anirban Mukhopadhyay, an Assistant Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of Calcutta Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, and affiliated Faculty at Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation, and Management (DPMM) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, is an esteemed expert in geospatial and environmental modeling. With vast research experience in deltas, coasts, mangroves, and sea ice globally, his work focuses on geoinformatics applications, hydrodynamic modeling, and coastal geomorphology. Dr. Indrajit Pal, an associate professor in the Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation, and Management program at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, brings over 21 years of expertise in disaster risk governance, hazard assessment, CBDRM, public health risk, and disaster resilience. With a distinguished background, he previously contributed to the Centre for Disaster Management at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, India. Dr. Pal holds a pivotal role as a Board member of the Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institutes (GADRI), Japan, and serves as a Visiting Professor at Keio University. His advisory contributions extend to Disaster Risk Reduction for the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia (RIMES). Dr. Pal is a prolific author and editor, with a portfolio of 15 books and over 180 peer-reviewed papers and chapters. Leading impactful projects in the Asia-Pacific region, his research focuses on risk characterization in Asian Delta communities and climate resilience in Lao PDR.
