Synopsis
This book, designed to serve as a basic text for students of physics at the graduate and postgraduate levels, presents a coherent, comprehensive account of the fundamentals of electromagnetic theory. The primary concern of the book is to enable the student to obtain a satisfactory intuitive grasp of the subject, to make him realize that the subject is relevant and useful and to encourage him to develop some facilities in its use. The book bridges the gap between highly mathematical works and the very elementary introductions of the subject. In this second edition arguments in some cases have been expanded to improve the clarity; new sections on some topics of importance have been added; and additional fully worked examples selected to bring out some subtle points have been included.
