The world wide web (WWW) is a collection of Internet networks that use hypertext, and recently Mosaic, to link together databases, text, files and other network resources. When writing a document on the WWW, it must be written in a special language called HTML, which stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. HTML has expanded to include links to graphics files, sound files and even video files that are available on the net. This introduction to HTML also contains information on the various editors and filters available to compose HTML documents, tips on setting up servers, and a section that shows Mosaic pages with their underlying HTML structure.
