PETER B. KAHN, PhD, is Professor of Physics in the State University of New York, Stony Brook, Department of Physics. Dr. Kahn received his doctorate in physics from Northwestern University. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He is also the author of Mathematical Methods for Scientists and Engineers (Wiley). YAIR ZARMI, PhD, is the Kurt and Phyllis Kilstock Professor of Environmental Physics at the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Desert Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
