About the author Alan B. Grebene is the President and the Founder of Micro–Linear Corporation, a company involved in the design and manufacturing of custom and semi–custom analog IC products. Involved with semiconductor technology and the IC industry since 1963, he served as a member of the Technical Staff at Fairchild Semiconductor, and at Sprague Electric Company; and as Manager of Circuit Research at Signetics Corporation. He is one of the Founders of EXAR Integrated Systems Inc., where he was the Senior Vice–President. From 1969 to 1975, he was also a lecturer in the Graduate School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Santa Clara. Dr. Grebene has authored over 40 technical papers and several books on the subjects of analog IC design and fabrication technology. He was elected a Fellow of the IEEE; and has served as the past Chairman of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society San Francisco Section, as well as the Associate Editor and the Guest Editor of a number of IEEE publications.
