This study explores the technology of meteor burst communications - the transmission of information by bouncing radio signals off the tails of passing meteors. Experimental results are presented and compared with theory along with additional results obtained for the variable data rate techniques.

About the editor DONALD L. SCHILLING is Herbert Kayser Professor of Electrical Engineering at the City College of New York and President of SCS Telecom, Inc., a research and development company specializing in high-tech military and commercial contracts. He is the author of eight textbooks in electrical engineering, including Principles of Communications Systems, and more than 150 technical papers. Dr. Schilling received his PhD in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute in New York.
