The Object Management Group (OMG) is a consortium of 400 vendors, founded in 1989 to create industry standards before any major products were introduced. As a result the OMG's CORBA (Common Object Request Broker), Object Management Architecture, and Common Object Services Specifications have been widely adopted as de facto industry standards.
