Synopsis

This study focuses on the relationship of personality and personality types, relating them to consistency of behaviour and the adaptation of behaviour to situations and environment. The author examines several theoretical approaches to the study of personality and environment interactions, and concludes that a bio-social model, which draws particularly on aspects of general systems theory, offers the best perspective for teaching, research and intervention. He argues that this offers a useful range of methods for situational research, including self-reports, behavioural observation and psychophysiological measures.
