Synopsis

This text introduces the distributed logic programming language DLP. Distributed logic programming combines logic programming, object-oriented programming and parallelism. A distinguishing feature of DLP with respect to other proposals is the support for distributed backtracking over the results of a rendezvous between objects. A leading interest behind this work has been the question of parallelism in expert system reasoning. Distributed logic programming is a suitable vehicle for the implementation of distributed knowledge-based systems, including expert systems, and systems for distributed problem solving.
