Synopsis
There is little doubt that after ten years of Thatcherism Britain has become a much more divided society. However, the authors conclude that Thatcherism is as much symptomatic of the divisions as it is the cause of them. This is a broad-based analysis of British society since Mrs Thatcher came to power, which looks at the Thatcher decade within an historical context. The book focuses on current divisions of class, based on wealth, income and lifestyles; gender; race and geographical location and concludes that Britain will continue to be a divided society.
