Synopsis
An der Schwelle zum 3. Jahrtausend ist Wasser nach wie vor ein Kernthema, da ein Viertel der Weltbevölkerung nicht über sauberes Trinkwasser verfügt. Daher ist die Hydrometrie verstärkt gefordert, lebenswichtige hydrometrische Informationen zur besseren Nutzung der Wasserreserven der Erde zu liefern. Diese zweite überarbeitete und aktualisierte Auflage des Erfolgstitels enthält neue Kapitel zu Wetterradar, Fernerkundung, Grundwasser und Jahresringeanalyse. Kapitel der Erstauflage wurden umfassend aktualisiert, um neuer Technik Rechnung zu tragen und um die Lücke zwischen alten und neuen hydrometrischen Methoden zu schließen. Behandelt werden Methoden zur Meßung der Strömung in Flüssen und offenen Kanälen, um die notwendigen Daten zur Durchfürhung folgender Aufgaben zu erhalten: Bereitstellung von Wassersystemen, Überwachung der Verschmutzung, Bau von Autobahnbrücken und Abwasserkanälen, Eindämmen der Hochwassergefahr, Energieerzeugung, Bau und Instandhaltung von Schiffahrtseinrichtungen, Entwurf von Freizeitanlagen.
