The story of Timoti Tumbleweed originated on a summer holiday at Whananaki, New Zealand and is based on the small tumbleweed which blow through the Motutara Farm Campground from the beach. As Timoti begins his journey, blown along by the wind, he looks forward to arriving at the fence where his friends will be. However, through his journey, he uncovers an important lesson about the making the most of every opportunity and approaching problems with an open mind. Timoti Tumbleweed is Sam's first children's book and illustrated work when he swapped his tools and technical drawings as an engineer during the day for coloring pencils in the evening. Developing out of a gift for his nephew Harrison, the first 200 copies were printed in December 2015. The concept of Timoti Tumbleweed was developed with the help of Ella Baker and Carmen & Logan Mills and the illustrations were inspired by Alex Reid.
