Synopsis

It is a lonely, cold day for an old woman who lives in a shed — and no matter what she tries, she simply cannot keep warm.

She pulls on extra clothes, thinks sunny thoughts, and even puts on her favourite music to dance herself warm. But when her enthusiastic jig ends in an unexpected tumble, things go from chilly to chaotic very quickly.

What will she try next to warm herself up?

Told in playful rhyme and full of humour and surprise, There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shed is a lively picture book that invites children to laugh, move, and join in the fun. This spirited story may even have readers jumping up to dance — but they should watch out for the furniture!

Perfect for reading aloud, this charming tale celebrates resilience, imagination, and the joy of unexpected kindness.

À propos des auteurs

The author has brought to life the charming New Zealand Character 'Riwi the Kiwi' who transports children aged 3-8 on three fun learning adventures. Subsequently, she has written four more hilarious children's stories: Bad Nana, The Mansion Rats, Lilla Gorilla, and There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shed. Apart from Bad Nana, the stories are rhyming, which the author has been told is a dying art. Throughout her teenage and adult years she wrote limericks in birthday cards for friends and family; usually corny and sometimes a bit rude, but always achieved the intended effect - a laugh from the recipient. Lilla Nicholas-Holt lives in New Zealand's far north, and has three adult children and two grandchildren.
