Synopsis

Excerpt from Institutional Ethics

Just at present evolutional ethics is in the ascend ency. Evolution is the watchword that explains all social phenomena. It is true that all the phenomena of society may be included in an ethical investigation; and farther, all of these phenomena may be reduced to an orderly arrangement and the law of this arrange ment may be enunciated, and then the various partial laws may be comprehended under one term, and that term may be evolution. But the question arises, does such an arrangement really explain the develop ment of events in society?
