Excerpt from Die Testamente der Zwölf Patriarchen
Die vorliegende Untersuchung über die Testa mente der zwolf Patriarchen erstreckt sich allein auf die Composition des Buches. Es schien mir angezeigt, vorerst diese Ausfuhrungen der Oeffentlichkeit zu über geben und das Urtheil Anderer darüber herauszufordern, ehe ich zu einer den Inhalt der Schrift betreffenden Abhandlung fortschreite.
Was die Textausgabe des Buches angeht, so habe ich diejenige von Robert Sinker (cambridge 1869) neben der des Fabricius benutzt. Leider hat sich noch Sinker damit begnugt, den Text der Cambridger Handschrift (cod. Cantabr.) zu reproduciren, daneben die Varianten des cod. Oxoniensis (oxon.) einfach anzugeben, ohne sich auf weitere textkritische Fragen irgendwie einzulassen. Wenngleich die Sin ker''sche Ausgabe weit sorgfältiger und genauer ist als die früher von Grabe, Fabricius, Gallandi und Migne besorgten, so ist sie doch für den wissenschaftlichcn Gebrauch durchaus nicht genügend.
