Synopsis

Hamlet in the graveyard, musing over the skull of Yorick the jester; Juliet on her balcony and Romeo in the courtyard below, exchanging rapturous reflections on their new-found love; mad King Lear, railing at the elements in the midst of a howling storm upon the heath -- these and other immortal scenes from Shakespeare's best-known and most-loved works appear in this unique coloring book.
Colorists of all ages will thrill to these finely-rendered depictions of memorable tableaux from Macbeth, Othello, Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, The Merchant of Venice, Richard III, Twelfth Night, and other famous plays by the Bard. Summaries of the plays, selections from the appropriate text, and captions accompany the illustrations. Texts include Portia's courtroom speech, "The quality of mercy is not strain'd"; Marc Antony's elegy for the assassinated Caesar, "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears"; the sleepwalking Lady Macbeth's lament over her blood-stained hands, "Out, damned spot!"; and numerous other oft-quoted lines.
