Karim Rashid is an industrial designer who has worked closely with, among others, Ettore Sottsass and Rodolfo Benetto. In 1993 he opened his own design practice in New York, and has since won many awards, including the 2001 Canadian Design Hero Award, the 1999 Daimler Chrysler Award and the 1998 Brooklyn Museum of Art Award. He also writes extensively on design for a number of periodicals.
