Synopsis
The icy calm of sudden death... Detective Toby Dyke was slightly baffled when he arrived at the great Tudor mansion of his friend John Lestarke-Toye and found no one at home. Forcing his way in through a French window he turned on the lights. What he saw was a viciously ransacked room with bullet holes in the wall and a fresh splash of blood on the purple carpet. And sitting upright in his chair was John, hands clasped across his little paunch, smiling genially as always...but quite, quite dead.
