The Tale of Peter Rabbit is the 1st title in the 23 children's tales. 19th century British idioms have been altered for modern readers, but with attempt to retain the charm of the original. Helen Beatrix Potter (1866 ¿ 1943) was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her children's books featuring animals, her first and perhaps most famous being The Tale of Peter Rabbit. In all, Potter wrote thirty books; the best known being her twenty-three children's tales. The Derrydale Press in New York city published special limited editions of sporting books. It was a special publishing venture of Eugene V. Connett III, Princeton Class of 1912, founded in 1926 and continued until its liquidation in 1942. The name was resurrected in the 1990s and the Derrydale Press is currently operated as an imprint of the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group of Lanham, Maryland which uses it to put out books on the outdoors as well as hunting, fishing, horse sports, hiking, and sporting art. Derrydale is the publisher for this 1992 edition. For this edition: cover and interior design by Clair Moniz; production supervision by Helen Marra & Ellen Reed; and editorial supervision by Claire Booss. Hardcover has white laminated covers with full color illustrations front & rear, black and blue lettering on spine & front cover, but no DJ. Square corners and negligible shelf-wear. Interior is tight, clean and unmarked. Opens as if never read. Always privately owned. New material copyrighted 1992. Originally published in 1902 by Frederick Warne & Co. Printed and bound in the United States of America. Print-line missing 0 & 9, so 3rd printing assumed. ISBN-10: 0-517-07236-X. LCCN: 91-34982. No MSR. N° de réf. du vendeur 007283
