Food for Thought is the second context book to be published for key stage 3 of the national curriculum course, STEP 5-16 Design and Technology. It develops work on food products introduced in the Core text for key stage 3. The book focuses on the various stages of producing a new food product, from initial idea to product launch. It also discusses the use of systems. This is developed to enable pupils to design their own food production system as a stimulus for using mechanics, electronics, pneumatics, systems analysis and business studies. The final chapter introduces the design of biosystems to grow plants, make yoghurt and ginger beer.
