Hardcover. First Edition; First Printing indicated. Near Fine in Near Fine DJ: Both book and DJ show only minute indications of use. The Book shows very light wear to the extremities; the former owner's name at the upper corner of the front free endpaper; the binding leans ever so slightly, but remains perfectly secure; the text is clean. The DJ shows only the mildest rubbing; the price has not been clipped; mylar-protected. Overall, very close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Oblong 8vo. 40pp. Illustrated with duotone drawings by Ted Enik. Hardback with DJ. Grade 3-5 Four cartoon kids and an omniscient narrator explore nine questions about motion: motions which children can cause and watch, how they can detect motions that they cannot feel, Newton's laws, center of gravity, orbits, and pendula. Along the way, there are simple experiments and brief mention of Newton, Galileo, and Copernicus. It's all very short and simple, in an open, appealing format, and the science does not suffer from the simplification. Why Doesn't the Earth Fall Up? has plenty of both history and humor - the humor largely thanks to Enik's line drawings - and that's not a bad way to introduce kids to physics. First Edition; First Printing indicated. N° de réf. du vendeur 43730
