"In a narrative laced with rich vocabulary (larceny, coruscate, cannonade), helpfully defined by Noodles [the dachshund], the writing creates a strong sense of place and of untold tales lurking in the background. Drawings capture the distinctive atmosphere and dry humor of this adventure story." —Booklist online exclusive
