The past five years have seen public interest directed particularly to the importance of public health and preventive medicine. The army and navy and the great manufacturing establishments and department stores are slowly learning the economic value of looking after the health of their employees. This is done largely by improving the sanitary condition of the general environment or immediate surroundings in which the individual lives and works.
