His awards include the Pacific Northwest Reader's Choice Award for Encyclopedia Brown Keeps the Peace and a special Edgar from the Mystery Writers of America for contribution to mystery writing in the United States.

Donald Sobol is married and has three children. A native of New York, he now lives in Florida.
