Mike Reid was born in East London in 1940 and began 'ducking and diving' to earn money almost as soon as he could walk. For years he managed to avoid a police record until he was caught red-handed robbing a country mansion. At seventeen, having served his sentence at an approved school, Mike set off to see the world as a steward on a cruise liner.

Back home, Mike joined the London drinking-club scene where his acquaintances included the notorious Krays. But after a spell in Brixton prison he vowed to turn his back on the criminal world for the sake of his family and his wife, Shirley - the girl he still calls 'Princess'. Work as a film extra soon led to a career as a stunt driver and he appeared in many major films and TV productions, including The Saint, The Avengers and The Dirty Dozen. His big break finally came when he landed a spot on the national TV show The Comedians. It wasn't long before Mike was a household name as Frank Butcher of EastEnders.

Mike's life has been filled with comedy but there have been darker moments. He has weathered personal tragedies that might have broken a lesser man. T'rific is Mike's uncensored story, told with his signature wit and wisdom.
