Synopsis
With contributions from some of his gardening friends, this tribute to the late Geoff Hamilton traces his career from horticultural college to author and television personality. It tells the story of Barnsdale and how the television garden was constructed, and how Hamilton adapted grand gardening ideas for the ordinary small garden. It also discusses his personality and style of presentation, and his part in the conservation of nature and the countryside.

When Geoff Hamilton died in 1996 he left the legacy of Barnsdale, his beautiful garden in Rutland. Over the years he had created more than a dozen special gardens for his television series -The Cottage Garden, The Ornamental Kitchen Garden, The Water Garden, and of course, The Paradise Garden to name just a few - which are still maintained for Barnsdale's many visitors.
Geoff's twin brother Tony has written a wonderful tribute which brings Geoff's ideas and philosophies - both of gardening and of life - into sharp focus. An accomplished gardener himself, he also passes on masses of practical tips and clever suggestions which he gleaned from Geoff over their years of gardening together.
