Synopsis

Landscape Construction Volume 1 deals with elements of landscape construction which are required to provide enclosure, privacy, demarcation of land, shelter and security. Each section describes the materials, construction and constraints relevant to the subject and a large number of detailed figures and photographs supplement the text and help to illustrate the more important aspects. Catharine Fortlage is Principal of Architectural Systems Consultants and was formerly a lecturer in Systematic Design at Heriot-Watt Faculty of Environmental Studies, Edinburgh, UK Elizabeth Phillips is Principal of Architects Information Services and was formerly Principal Research and Development Architect in the South-East Thames Regional Health Authority. Both authors are architects, technical editors in association with one of the major British landscape firms, and authors of previous books and reports. They are joint winners of research and design awards for architectural and environmental projects; both are RIBA representatives on British Standard Technical Committees.
