Synopsis
The Hermitage in Leningrad comprises six large departments devoted to Russian and world art from ancient times to the present day. This volume covers the museum's collection in its entirety, rather than concentrating exclusively on Western European art. It contains reproductions of the best examples form each of the six sections, including Scythian goldwork, Greek and Roman sculpture from the Black Sea Coast, miniatures, bronzes and porcelain from the East, Western European painting and sculpture, Russian icons, coins and medals.
