"Simple Men" tells the story of two brothers, thrown together in search of their father. The pair confront their expectations of themselves and their attitudes towards women. It was premiered as part of the Official Competition at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival. "Trust" is a provocative comedy of suburban middle America. A young woman struggles to gain a sense of her own self-worth through the discovery that it may be possible to trust another person. It won "Best Screenplay" at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival. Also contained in this book is a detailed interview with Hartley, plus a complete filmography.
