Synopsis

Although best known for his plays, Harold Pinter has also written an extensive and wide-ranging body of other work over the past half-century - prose, prose fiction, poetry and political writings. In this anthology Pinter presents his own selection, among which are "A Note on Shakespeare" (1950), a paean of praise for the cricketer Len Hutton (1969), the short stories "Kullus" (1949) and "Girls" (1995), the poetry from "School Life" (1948), and political pieces - including many letters to the press - on the United States, Cuba, Kurdistan and Nicaragua.

À propos de l'auteur

Harold Pinter was born in East London in 1930. He lives in London and is married to Antonia Fraser. In 1995 he won the David Cohen British Literature Prize for a lifetime's achievement in literature; in 1996 he was awarded the Laurence Olivier Award for a lifetime's achievement in theatre; and in 1997 he was named as the Sunday Times Writer of the Year. In 2002 Harold Pinter was made a Companion of Honour in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to literature.
