In forty brief devotionals, the authors make the case for a renewed high view of Communion. Written in a pastoral tone, this book is a helpful teaching tool and an invigorating encouragement to reevaluate our conceptions of the Lord's Supper. We in the church need to recover what we have lost about the sacrament of Communion. The evangelical protestant church in America has departed from its roots in biblical orthodoxy in many ways, including in our view of the Lord's Supper. The lure of moralism, self-help techniques, and cultural capitulation has drawn the attraction of many. The seduction of emotional experiences, and elevating individual and private spirituality over community commitment has enticed others. The Sacrament, once central and primary, has lost its rightful place in our worship. Sadly, the Reformed church within the United States has not fared much better than the rest of the evangelical world. Help is needed, and recovering the regularity of the means of grace is an urgent matter. In cumulation, these reflections offer a biblical, historical, and refreshing understanding to the sacrament of Communion. Come, again, to the Table of our Lord.
