Synopsis
When the Moon disintegrates amidst a trail of fire and smoke, the entire world takes notice. Within an hour, four additional, inexplicable events occur – including the disappearance of a high-Earth-orbit construction crew, the incomprehensible disintegration of the top third of Mount Everest, the total eradication of a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea and the complete destruction of a small village in Morocco. Scientists scramble to determine the cause, concluding that the Earth and Moon had passed through a series of invisible 'atmospheres' lying dormant in space – and it was the Earth's own 67,000-mph orbit around the Sun that was responsible for the devastation. (Scientific Fact: The Earth's 67,000-mph orbital speed is faster then many meteorites are traveling when they enter the Earth's atmosphere and disintegrate as shooting stars.) A think tank comprised of the world's preeminent scientists is brought up to speed with a major military declassification. It is reveled that a fortnight's earlier destruction of Earth's Martian colony had not been a devastating meteorite strike, as reported to the press – but rather a deliberate attack from a massive alien spacecraft. The declassification continued with evidence that immediately following the assault, the Martian atmosphere had been completely siphoned off, compressed and presumably pumped into the alien craft's colossal storage tanks. And lastly, the most disconcerting of all, was that the composition of the invisible anomalies responsible for the recent deadly encounters on the Earth and Moon were indeed portions of the Martian atmosphere. But what could be the reason for such an unprovoked attack? The missing pieces of the puzzle quickly fall into place with the discovery of another stationary mass, nearly twice the size of Earth – lying slightly off-center, but still well within our planet's orbital path – forty-four days ahead. It was now painfully obvious that the five earlier encounters were most likely a series of experiments to confirm the Earth's orbital trajectory. It was also calculated that if the Earth came into contact along the edge of the mass, it would generate enough force to rapidly accelerate the rotation of the Earth itself, and shatter the bond between the Earth's crust and mantle, setting the stage for simultaneous worldwide devastation. Every fault line on the planet would be triggered. Buildings would collapse, mountains would be leveled, and every body of water – from oceans to rivers – would violently shift westward. The Aliens were setting up for a Global-Scale, Strip-Mining Operation – and the Earth was their Target!
