It’s the summer of 1978 in Detroit, and Ruby Tuesday Vander is a 15 year-old girl looking forward to a summer vacation filled with lofty goals and nightly sleepovers at her best friend Bonnie’s house. Ruby lives with her mom, brother, and her Grandma Dotti – who she is exceptionally close to. But Ruby’s summer plans and goals are quickly halted when her grandma is diagnosed with cancer. As she stands by her grandma’s side and watches her fight dwindle; she finds herself falling in love with Bonnie’s reticent cousin, Wesley, who is visiting for the summer. Ruby struggles to find the courage to say goodbye to the biggest part of her heart – her grandma – and to re-create new love with Wesley. With his help, her broken heart learns how essential it is to never say goodbye to the truest of love and how to hold on to it forever.
