As a recent graduate, Ben is eager to use and hone his training and skills as a Physician Assistant in Bedlam, a small rural town in northeast Montana. In trauma, disease or mental health, he is prepared to face the challenges. He is even expecting that the source of the trauma might be from causes he is less familiar with such as the wild cow milking contest or rattlesnake bites. But he must have missed the class on the value of a veterinarian as a consulting doctor or dealing with the deity of a football coach, the manipulations of an unsavory developer, or a gossiping highway patrolman. Add a wisecracking partner in crime and a supervising physician who thinks MD stands for mandatory directives during his infrequent appearances. Then the hospital administrator brings in a "spiritual" interior decorator. Being a PA in Bedlam is not for the faint of heart. Medical protocols don't begin to cover the complexities Ben encounters. Community and health are two words that do not always go neatly together.
